Goal Setting Tips [Goals for 2020 Episode]

In today’s episode, I’m sharing my list of goals I want to achieve this year.

I’m not doing this to brag or show off. It’s more to help me think through what I’m trying to accomplish in this upcoming year and hopefully inspire you to do the same.

Before I share my exact stuff, here are a few tactics that should help you in dominating this upcoming year:

1- Join our Facebook group. is a new experiment I’m trying to help people and connect them in this group. Plus we are doing clean January, no drinking/smoking/etc. and starting off the year right. 

2- PURGE BABY purge. I delete all my emails, calendars, and todo list. It’s a great feeling to go in the new year without weight or doing things just because we’ve been doing things. It helps me remember which things are really the most important.

3- Fantasy Story. In a story format, I write out what I want the end of the year to look like. Get creative and have fun with it.

4- Calendering. Once you set your goals, add the bigger ones to your calendar. It makes it easier to know when you’re going to get them done by.

5- Put Your goals EVERYWHERE. I list them on my screen, phone and check them DAILY in the strides app. 

6- Weekly Accountability. I email two of my friends every single week to keep me in check.

7- Monthly Reports. Every month I write a report about what happened in the month (work, travel, relationship, etc.).

8- Goals vs Systems vs Progress. Do whatever works for you!  Goals can help keep things clear. Systems (1 content piece a week) can help get momentum. Progress (grow monthly active readers) can help bridge the gap between goals and systems.

9- Review last year’s goals. I won’t spend this episode doing it but you SHOULD review and compare how you did and what you can learn for this upcoming year. Also, CHANGE your goals in the 6-month mark. 

10- Unplanned is the most fun. Some of my most favorite things have been unplanned. Going biking and getting lost or going on an impromptu margarita tour.

Without further ado, my word of the year for 2020 is congruence. Humanistic psychologist, Carl Rogers, describes congruence to be a state in which a person’s ideal self matches their actual behavior.
